Project Name: Patrick Henry Law Firm Flash Animation
Designed With: Adobe Illustrator, Flash
Printing Process: N/A
My Role: This flash animation was originally outsourced. When the customer was coming in and the designer could not be reached, my boss asked me to put something together in Illustrator. Knowing that CMYK colors would not translate well to hexadecimal color, and that it would not take any longer to put it together in Flash, I put it together in Flash. I used the SWF file that the designer had put together as a jumping off point and went from there. One of the special requirements for this project was that it needed to be under 50kb (a requirement for the website it was going to be used on). The animation needed to show one screen for seven seconds, show the next, and repeat for a total of 4 times, stopping on the last screen. The entire flash animation was a button that would take those who clicked it to the Patrick Henry website. The designer had originally used a raster image for the flag in the animation, which I knew took up more space than a vector image, so I found a vector flag as well as a vector image for the full Statue of Liberty. I opened the statue file in Illustrator and used the pathfinder tool to delete the unnecessary bottom part of the image (which also helped cut down on the size of the image and flash animation).
Total Design Time: 45-60 minutes
